1. How do I use the MIGHTY?

Please refer to the Instructions for Use or Quick Start Manual

The MIGHTY is turned on by activating the orange-colored switch (heating up the Vaporizer with full Filling Chamber and Cooling Unit mounted is recommended). In this, keep the switch pressed for at least one second. You know that the Vaporizer is switched on when a short vibration takes place. The LED display indicates the heating-up process by displaying the set and actual temperatures. The desired temperature can be adjusted by pressing the plus and minus buttons. As soon as the desired set temperature is reached, a double-vibration signal indicates this to you.

For an easy and clean filling, you can use the Filling Aid included (refer to the Instructions for Use for a detailed description). Make sure that the plant material is dry and finely ground.

The finer the plants are ground, the greater the surface from which aromas, fragrances and active ingredients can be released during the vaporization process. The MIGHTY achieves its optimum effect in this way.

Once the MIGHTY has been filled and has reached its set temperature, you can start (inhaling). Take the folded out Mouthpiece between your lips and breathe in the vapor evenly and slowly.

2. How can I use the MIGHTY most effectively?

Your MIGHTY is most effective when you heed the following points:

    1. Always heat up your MIGHTY when the Filling Chamber is full.
    2. Begin the inhalation of the vapor as soon as the set temperature has been reached.
    3. Switch off your MIGHTY directly after use to prevent a continuous reheating (the automatic switch-off is effective after 1 minute).

Please note that the battery charge reduces when the device is heating, even when you do not inhale.

3. How should I take care of my MIGHTY?

We recommend cleaning the Cooling Unit of the MIGHTY at regular intervals. When using the unit, it is unavoidable that some of the vapor condenses on the surface of the Cooling Unit. This condensate must be removed from time to time to ensure an optimal working efficiency of the MIGHTY and obtain an unadulterated taste of the vaporizing material.

You should pay particular attention to the cleaning of the individual parts of the Cooling Unit, including the Mouthpiece. The Cooling Unit can be dismantled for cleaning purposes. The MIGHTY Cooling Unit can be removed by rotating it counterclockwise through 90°. You can now remove, one after the other, the Mouthpiece, the Cap Lock, the Cooling Unit Cap, the Base Sealing Ring and the upper Screen. The individual parts can be cleaned in ethanol (alcohol), for example.

Please refer to the Instructions for Use or Quick Start Manual for a detailed guide on cleaning the Cooling Unit.

4. Is there a Liquid Pad for the MIGHTY?

Yes, a Liquid Pad is included with the device. Refer to the Instructions for Use on how to use this.

5. Can I operate my MIGHTY while the battery is being charged?

Yes. The MIGHTY can be operated with the mains adapter at any time, even when the battery is completely discharged.

6. What is the difference between the CRAFTY and the MIGHTY?

In general, you can imagine the CRAFTY as the MIGHTY’s little brother. When designing the MIGHTY, we thought it might be nice to have a smaller version, too. So we used only one lithium-ion battery instead of two for the CRAFTY and we also dispensed with the display of the MIGHTY to make things smaller. The CRAFTY has only one button to operate it and one LED-light to give the user coded information regarding charging, heating up, temperatures and potential errors.

Then we thought, hey, nearly everybody carries a display around with him/her – a smartphone. So we added a Bluetooth Low Energy chip to the CRAFTY and made an App, which provides even more information than the display of the MIGHTY. However, to operate the CRAFTY, no smartphone or App is necessary. It works very well with the default settings, eg. Basic Temp. 180°C (356°F) and Booster Temp. 195°C (383°F) which can be set individually with the CRAFTY-App.

The MIGHTY has a slightly more powerful heating (30 Watts heating performance compared to 27 Watts with the CRAFTY, double voltage and capacity because of two batteries) and a slightly better cooling (because of the bigger Cooling Unit). By testing them blindly, you won’t realize a difference in vapor quality. Another difference is the price: The CRAFTY costs 298 €, the MIGHTY costs 348 € including free shipping.

What both have in common, is the full convection air heating combined with additional conduction heating of the Filling Chamber walls to give the user powerful vapor draws from the start. A good heating always requires an efficient cooling, otherwise the taste will be awful.

7. How can I set the temperature on my MIGHTY?

The set temperature of the MIGHTY can be set on the LED display. Pressing the plus button raises the set temperature; pressing the minus button lowers the set temperature. A brief tap on the plus or minus button, causes the set value to change upwards or downwards in 1-degree steps. If you keep the plus or minus button pressed, the set value starts running continuously in the corresponding direction.

8. How long do the batteries last?

First of all: Don’t expect too much! To heat dozens of liters (or a few gallons) of air from e.g. 20°C (68°F) to 200°C (392°F), comparatively lots of energy is required. Please be aware that the CRAFTY and MIGHTY are full hot air convection Vaporizers with additional conduction heating of the Filling Chamber. This is the reason why they work as well as formerly only known from mains operated Vaporizers, giving you excellent clouds of vapor.
Of course we only use the best cells available on the market and most of the devices’ processing power is used only for battery management, however, we cannot go beyond physical limits.

The performance of a charged battery depends very much on user habits. It is most efficient to heat up the Vaporizer, then immediately start with vaporization. Don’t make long breaks between your draws as it requires energy to maintain the temperature on the level you have chosen. After you’re done, switch off the device immediately. It requires less energy to reheat the device from time to time, rather than keeping the temperature on a vaporization heat level. It is quite clear - higher temperatures need more energy than lower temperatures. According to our experiences, a fully charged CRAFTY allows the vaporization of 2-3 Filling Chamber loads, depending on ambient conditions and user habits. The MIGHTY has double battery capacity, therefore serves up to 4-6 Filling Chamber loads.

Switching off the LEDs or the Vibration (per CRAFTY App) does not help, as the power consumption of the signals is absolutely negligible compared to the power necessary for heating. Another truth is that batteries wear out with time. After hundreds of charging circles, you will realize, the cells lost capacity. This is the case with any battery, though we tried to prolong battery life as much as possible with the help of a sophisticated battery management. Once you are no longer satisfied with the capacity, send your Vaporizer to our Customer Service to get new batteries. Never try to change batteries by yourself as we use pre-assembled packs with special temperature sensors and plugs for safety reasons.

09. My Seal Ring broke, what am I doing wrong?

If the o-ring placed inside the Cooling Unit broke (small O-ring), it might be due to an incorrect attachment. Please view here how the inner seal ring is to be inserted.

10. How does the vaporization proceed?

The MIGHTY, as well as the CRAFTY and the PLENTY function with a full hot air convection heating combined with conduction so that the air is already heated when it flows into the heated-up Filling Chamber and ensures an immediate and continuous vaporizing.

The additional benefit of the heated Filling Chamber is that the material to be vaporized is already heated up and vaporization takes place on the first inhalation.

II. Information about the CRAFTY

1. How do I use the CRAFTY?

Please refer to the Instructions for Use or Quick Start Manual

The CRAFTY is turned on by activating the orange-colored switch (heating up the Vaporizer with full Filling Chamber and Cooling Unit mounted is recommended). In this, keep the switch pressed for at least one second. You know that the Vaporizer is switched on when a short vibration takes place and the LED lights up red. As soon as the basic temperature default setting 180°C (356°F)) has been reached, this is signaled to you by a short double-vibration and a steady green light.

The CRAFTY achieves its optimum effect in this way.

Once the CRAFTY has been filled and has reached its basic temperature, you can start (inhaling). Take the folded out Mouthpiece between your lips and breathe in the vapor evenly and slowly.

2. Can I use the CRAFTY without the App?

Yes, definitely. The CRAFTY is a one-button device. The CRAFTY App is not necessary for operating the CRAFTY Vaporizer as it functions faultlessly with the default settings (180°C (356°F) Basic Temperature and 195°C (383°F) Booster Temperature). The App allows you however to make individual adjustments and read out information about operating the CRAFTY Vaporizer.

With the CRAFTY App you can set the Basic and Booster Temperatures of your device to your own personal preferences. The App can also be used to read off the charging state of the battery as well as, for example, switching the vibration function of the CRAFTY on and off.

The CRAFTY App also provides you with, for example, vibration and alarm functions for your smartphone.

3. How can I use the CRAFTY most effectively?

Your CRAFTY is most effective when you heed the following points:

    1. Always heat up your CRAFTY when the Filling Chamber is full.
    2. Begin the inhalation of the vapor as soon as the LED has switched from red to green.
    3. Switch off your CRAFTY directly after use to prevent a continuois reheating (the automatic switch-off is effective after 1 minute).

Please note that the battery charge reduces when the device is heating, even when you do not inhale.

4. How should I take care of my CRAFTY?

We recommend cleaning the Cooling Unit of the CRAFTY at regular intervals. When using the unit, it is unavoidable that some of the vapor condenses on the surface of the Cooling Unit. This condensate must be removed from time to time to ensure an optimal working efficiency of the CRAFTY and obtain an unadulterated taste of the vaporizing material.

5. Is there a Liquid Pad for the CRAFTY?

Yes, a Liquid Pad is included with the device. Refer to the Instructions for Use on how to use this.

6. Can I operate my CRAFTY while the battery is being charged?

Yes, but only if a partial charging has been carried out beforehand. If the battery is completely discharged, there is not sufficient power to operate the CRAFTY.

7. My CRAFTY doesn't charge properly, what's wrong?

The CRAFTY charges by means of an USB power source and USB cable. This makes it very versatile, as there are plenty of USB sockets and cables around. The problem is, not all of them are well enough suited to charge the CRAFTY.
The CRAFTY, as well as the MIGHTY Vaporizer have a charge current of 1.4 Amps and require a minimum charge voltage. Some older PCs or USB sources deliver only 0.5 to 0.8 Amps, which is not sufficient to charge the CRAFTY, as minimum voltage can’t be reached this way. Another problem is the use of long USB cables with thin profiles. These cables significantly reduce charge voltage and current. The result is a prolonged charge time or even worse, no charge at all. If this happens, the LED-indicator of the CRAFTY flashes red and green (MIGHTY displays “error 03”) before switching off.
These kinds of problems can be certainly avoided by using the original USB power adapter and USB cable that have been delivered together with your CRAFTY Vaporizer or respectively, by using the original power adapter and cable that have been delivered together with your MIGHTY Vaporizer.

8. What is the difference between the CRAFTY and the MIGHTY?

In general, you can imagine the CRAFTY as the MIGHTY’s little brother. When designing the MIGHTY, we thought it might be nice to have a smaller version, too. In the case of other Android smartphones, please note that the App is only suitable for smartphones that are fitted with a Bluetooth Low Energy chip whose functions are integrated into Android by the respective manufacturer and used in the hardware. A software update may be necessary for some models in order to use the CRAFTY App.

10. How can I set the temperature on my CRAFTY?

The temperature of the CRAFTY can be set using the free CRAFTY App. For the App you need a Bluetooth Low Energy smartphone on which the App acts as a CRAFTY display.

The CRAFTY App is not necessary for operating the Vaporizer as this works perfectly with the default settings (180°C (356°F) Basic Temperature and 195°C (383°F) Booster Temperature)! The App allows you, however, to make individual adjustments and read out additional information on operating the CRAFTY Vaporizer.

The App appears on your smartphone serving as the display of the CRAFTY Vaporizer on which the Actual, Set and Booster Temperatures can be read off. These can also be individually adjusted by pressing the plus and minus buttons to raise or lower the temperature settings.

11. How can I restore the default settings?

It is possible to reset settings which were changed using the CRAFTY App. The reset is made by pressing the ON/OFF button for ten seconds while the CRAFTY is switched on. You can also restore the default settings of the CRAFTY using the App on the smartphone. Simply go to "Settings" and then "Reset default settings"

Please refer to the Instructions for Use for more information on the App.

12. How long does the battery last?

III. Information about the PLENTY

1. What do the numbers on the temperature dial stand for?

The scale ranges from 1-7, corresponding to temperatures of 130°C to 202°C (266°F to 395°F).

IV. Information about the VOLCANO

1. What is the difference between the VOLCANO DIGIT and the VOLCANO CLASSIC?

The most important aspect is that, whichever VOLCANO you decide on, there is no difference in the overall effect.

The precision and quality with which you are familiar from our VOLCANO CLASSIC are taken to the next level with the VOLCANO DIGIT.

The advantages of the VOLCANO DIGIT include its large LED display, which immediately and visually informs the user about the operating status, as well as the electronic control system, which works even more accurately than the bi-metallic regulator in the VOLCANO CLASSIC.

The VOLCANO CLASSIC impresses by its robust, purely electromechanical design as well as a saving of € 100.

VOLCANO CLASSIC

  • Vaporisation temperature adjustable between approx. 130°C and 230°C (266°F and 446°F)
  • Temperature accuracy ± 5°C (± 9°F)
  • Three year warranty
  • Robust, completely electromechanical design

VOLCANO DIGIT

  • Vaporisation temperature adjustable between approx. 40°C and 230°C (104°F and 446°F)
  • Temperature accuracy ± 1,5°C (2.7°F)
  • Three year warranty
  • Precise electronic control
  • Extra large, digital LED display with set and actual temperature
  • Display changeover between °Celsius and °Fahrenheit
  • Automatic switch off

Both VOLCANO units come with an elegant metal cone. Care has been taken to select odor-free and food-safe materials. Both the high-performance heating cartridge and the powerful air pump can withstand the toughest load levels.

An independent temperature fuse, Air Filter and a silencer are of course included in our VOLCANO, as is a specially designed aluminium heat exchanger, which brings the air both cleanly and reliably to the desired temperature.

2. What is the difference between the EASY VALVE and the SOLID VALVE?

Our customers' preferences and requirements were taken into consideration when developing the EASY VALVE. The EASY VALVE is characterised by very easy handling and minimal maintenance work. Attaching a new Balloon to the Valve is no longer required, as the EASY VALVE comes as a ready to use Valve Balloon unit including Mouthpiece. Once the EASY VALVE can no longer be used, you simply replace the old with a new one.

The EASY VALVE Starter Set is delivered with 5 EASY VALVE Balloons with Mouthpiece and the appropriate Filling Chamber. The EASY VALVE Filling Chamber is to be cleaned and re-used.

Until 2006 the SOLID VALVE was our standard Valve Kit and sold in tens of thousands. You can choose your individual Balloon Size as the SOLID VALVE Set comes with a box of 3 meters Balloon Material.

Using the SOLID VALVE the replacement of the Balloon is kind of tricky and needs some experience, but the SOLID VALVE provides a less expensive long-term option, as the Balloon Material can be bought for a reasonable price directly from us.

3. Can I use the EASY VALVE on my VOLCANO Vaporiser?

Yes, you can. The EASY VALVE was designed to fit all VOLCANO Vaporisers. VOLCANO Hot Air Generators with a black hot air outlet are optimized for use with the EASY VALVE, as the EASY VALVE Filling Chamber "clicks" perfectly on the black hot air outlet. All VOLCANO Vaporisers produced since 2006 have a black hot air outlet instead of a grey one.

You can use the EASY VALVE on all older models too (grey/beige hot air outlet), the EASY VALVE just does not lock in place as perfectly as on the black hot air outlets.

4. What do the numbers on the temperature scale of the VOLCANO CLASSIC stand for ?

The scale ranges from 1-9, corresponding to temperatures of 130°C to 226°C (266°F to 439°F). You will find a full overview on our temperature table.

5. How long can the vapors be stored in the Balloon?

The vapors in the Balloon condense in the course of time at the Balloon Jacket. But that is a process which takes hours. If you inhale the Balloon contents within 5-10 minutes you will have little or no loss at all. The Valve Balloon is not designed to "store" vapor, it allows moreover the user to conveniently inhale independently of the device in line with the user's individual requirements, making it comparable with a glass which is easier to drink out of than directly from the water tap.

6. Does the Balloon Material emit any substances to the vapors which are subsequently inhaled by the user?

No, none at all - we have applied the maximum possible care and diligence in all materials which come into contact with the air inhaled.

The VOLCANO Balloon Material is a highly pure and robust polyester, which is perfectly suitable for this purpose. This or other oven tubes or bags are normally used to cook food in the oven at temperatures up to 200°C (392°F). If it is used with the VOLCANO the hot air only has a temperature of max. 130°C (266°F) when it enters the Balloon. Due to the large surface of the Balloon the air is cooling down while vaporizing organic material so that it can be inhaled immediately after filling the Balloon.

The VOLCANO Balloon does not contain any softeners; it is food-safe, odor-free and heat-proof. Of course, you can use similar oven hoses or oven bags from other manufacturers, but do not use normal plastic bags or plastic foil under any circumstances.

7. Which parts of the VOLCANO Vaporiser are subject to wear and tear?

Actually, only the Balloon, which has to be replaced by a new Balloon after cleaning the Valve Kit in regular intervals (after 50 - 100 Balloon Fillings). The Balloon used is the VOLCANO Balloon. A roll with 3 metres of this product is enclosed with each VOLCANO, which is sufficient for 5-6 Balloons. You may also use other heat-resistant oven tubes or oven bags, e.g. in the U.S.A. use Reynolds ® oven bags Type "large". Do not use any other plastic bags or clingwraps.

Once an EASY VALVE can no longer be used, you simply replace the old with a new one. The need to replace the Filling Chamber Screens is far less seldom (approx. 1x per year in everyday use). Each complete set is furnished with 3 upper and 3 lower Screens. That will last a long time. No other parts are subject to wear and tear.

8. Why do no vapors initially develop when the balloon is being filled?

Not only the vaporization material, but also the Filling Chamber Cylinder has to reach the vaporisation temperature. Our recommendation: Set the Filling Chamber on the hot air outlet of the VOLCANO without the Valve Balloon attached yet and allow hot air to warm up your plant material for a few seconds before placing the Valve Balloon on the Filling Chamber. That ensures that the Balloon is completely filled with aromas and fragrances from the very beginning.

VI. FAQ's on the use of a Vaporizer:

2. What is the optimal breathing technique?

Vaporized plant materials hardly irritate the respiratory tract in comparison to smoked or fumigated substances, but are not totally irritation-free in any case. The material used, the quality of the Vaporiser and the breathing technique are factors which playHold your breath for a few seconds and exhale slowly. It is recommended to consciously concentrate on your respiration. After a certain individual acclimatization phase you will then find that the vapors can be inhaled optimally at the user's ease.

VII. FAQ's on the technical aspects of Vaporizers

1. Can the vaporization material burn in the Vaporizers?

No. A professional Vaporizer should be constructed in a way that excludes the combustion of plant material from the very beginning. The user's safety has always been our top priority. That is why we have adjusted the controller so that critical vaporization temperatures above 210°C (410°F) in the Filling Chamber cannot be reached. As the burning temperatures of plant material lies at 235°C (455°F), there is enough temperature distance assured for the safety of the user.

2. Does the aluminium heat exchanger emit any substances which are subsequently inhaled by the user?

No, the top temperature reached in the heat exchanger 240°C (464°F) is by far below the temperature that is needed to emit any substances out of the aluminium alloy AlMgSi, melting point 660°C (1220°F) boiling point 2519°C (4566°F) used by us. This is documented by an analysis of the air produced by the Vaporizers on top temperature made by the UTM Office for Environmental Engineering in Münster, Germany.

3. Which factors determine the vapor build-up?

The proportion of aromas and fragrances primarily depends on the quality and quantity of herbs with which the Filling Chamber is filled. Other important factors are the surface area of the plant material and the vaporizing temperature.

Pay special attention that the plant material for the battery-run Vaporizers CRAFTY and MIGHTY is dry and finely ground The finer the plant is ground, the greater the surface and the more aromas and fragrances can be released during the vaporization cycle. The Vaporizers achieve their optimum effect in this way.

The amount of aromas and fragrances released can be influenced by the following factors:

  • Surface: The more finely the plant material is ground, the larger is the surface from which aromas and fragrances can be released in the vaporizing process.
  • Quality: The concentration of vaporizable aromas and fragrances in the particular plant material.
  • Quantity: The amount of plant material flowing through the Filling Chamber.
  • Temperature: The higher the temperature, the greater the quantity of aromas and fragrances that are released all at once.

Please note: Increasing the temperature should be the last resort, because plant material tastes more roasted when using higher temperature.

The vaporizable ingredients of a plant are released in a gentle way so that a repetition of the vaporization process with the same material in the Filling Chamber is possible. Depending on the 4 factors described above, the load of the Filling Chamber can be reused several times until all aromas and fragrances are completely dissolved.

It is advisable before repeating the vaporizing process to take out the contents of the Filling Chamber and grind them once again to increase the surface area of the original material. If the dry material is ground well (e.g. in our Herb Mill), it is not necessary to grind it again. A higher temperature would also activate more vapor but has a negative effect on the flavor.

The flavor has incidentally little to do with the effect. The aromas - relatively volatile essential oils - vaporize generally more quickly than the active ingredients. Apart from that, the taste depends primarily on the plant material.

4. Which temperature should I select?

The temperature is only one of the four factors for vapor build-up. The temperatures recommended for the various herbs only serve as reference values. Generally the temperature which is selected should be as low as possible, so that vapors only just develop.

It is recommended to make your own observations in order to set the optimal temperature. With a very high vapor intensity, the concentration of aromas and fragrances can lead to irritation of the respiratory tract. In that case, the temperature should be lowered to reduce the intensity of the vapor.

In that respect, for example, the VOLCANO offers you the additional unique advantage of the Valve Balloon. The vapor generated in the Balloon is very easy to observe and the user learns within a very short space of time to reliably handle the device and the various plant materials. The VOLCANO with its Valve Balloon is the only device to offer you this optical control feature!

The temperature setting is perfect when a fine, white mist is seen to rise. Vapor which is barely visible indicates that either the temperature is too low or the material vaporized is exploited. Thick, very dense vapor may be unpleasant to inhale.

5. Does an odor develop? Do non-smokers get annoyed?

No. There is only a minimal development of odors compared to smoking. No bothersome smoke is created, and non-smokers are not subject to any adverse effects when sharing rooms with users. Only a few minutes after the application you will not notice any odor in the room.
